A scary Halloween story suitable for a child

It's always tricky thinking of a child friendly ghost story on the spot, so if you're ever caught in a situation like that again give this one a read and it might just save the day. Spoiler alert... there is nothing scary about this story 😂
The story goes a little something like this ...
Once upon a time, in a small town nestled between dark, mysterious woods, there lived a curious little girl named Lily.
Halloween was Lily's favorite time of the year, and she couldn't wait to embark on a thrilling adventure with her friends. This particular Halloween night, however, held an unexpected surprise.
As the moon cast an eerie glow on the cobblestone streets, Lily and her friends, Jake and Emily, decided to explore the haunted forest on the outskirts of town. Legend had it that strange creatures roamed the woods on Halloween night, but the trio was fearless and ventured into the darkness with their flashlights in hand.
The rustling leaves and mysterious whispers filled the air as they ventured deeper into the spooky forest. The trees seemed to come alive with twisted branches that reached out like ghostly fingers. Suddenly, the wind howled, and the friends heard a distant, eerie melody that sent shivers down their spines.
They stumbled upon an old, dilapidated mansion hidden in the heart of the woods. Its windows were cracked, and the moonlight cast haunting shadows on its crumbling walls. Despite their initial fear, curiosity got the better of them, and they bravely stepped inside.
Creaking floorboards echoed through the silent halls as they explored room after room. Strange portraits lined the walls, and dusty cobwebs hung from the ceiling. Just as they were about to turn back, the trio heard a faint, ghostly giggle.
Suddenly, the room came alive with flickering candles, and a mischievous ghost appeared before them. It was a friendly ghost named Casper, who explained that the mansion was once his home. He had been lonely for many years and was delighted to have company on Halloween night.
Casper showed Lily, Jake, and Emily magical rooms filled with treats and surprises. They danced with friendly skeletons, played with enchanted pumpkins, and even met a talking black cat who shared riddles and jokes. The once-spooky mansion transformed into a magical haven of laughter and joy.
As the clock struck midnight, Casper led them back to the entrance, promising that the mansion would always welcome them on Halloween night. With grateful hearts, the friends left the enchanted woods, their bags filled with sweets and memories of a Halloween adventure they would cherish forever.
From that night on, Lily, Jake, and Emily looked forward to their annual visit to the friendly ghost's mansion, turning a once-scary Halloween into a magical tradition filled with enchantment and joy. And so, the mysterious forest became a place of wonder, where Halloween dreams came true for those who dared to venture inside.
